Hey guys,

I am retiring my block target that I used to check my broadheads before hunting each year for a while now, as it is pretty much destroyed. I have looked at the Rinehart 18-1 and Cabelas has a target that is made by rinehart called the Cabelas Elite Stop Target that I am looking at also. Does anyone have any experience with either of these or with any other broadhead target that they recommend. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

My favorite broadhead target is an elk lol.

For practice I use the Glendel Buck. I love to shoot at a realistic target year round as I feel it helps when the moment of truth arrives. Little more expensive than others out there but extremely durable.

I would be ok with having a live bull elk as my broad head target. As it is now, I wouldn't have a lot of practice shots in that case unfortunately. lol. Thanks for the input. I was thinking about taking my time and waiting to hear a lot of responses. I ended up searching around online and saw a lot of good reviews on the rinehard 18-1 and bought one last night. I am about to give it my first round of field tests right now.

I just got a Rinehart target off camofire on sale.very good target,,,good solid foam,,,not one of those "recycled p o s hips targets" that are full of saran wrap inside.those are worse than worthless as you cant even pull your bradhead back out of the damn thing.

Get ready to pull hard when you remove your arrow from the rhinehart. I really like my rhinehart target but get a good quality arrow lube for easier removal. You will know what I mean the first time you sink an arrow without and go to pull the arrow out.

I shot this morning without any arrow lube and it was definitely difficult to pull out. I have never used any arrow lube before so I will have to look into that, but I have an arrow gripper somewhere that I will try next time. I have to say that it was easier to pull out my broadheads than field tips. All in all I am pretty happy with it. For backyard field point practice I will still use my bag target, but if I am looking for a portable rig or to check my broadheads Ill use the rinehart.

A quick tip for people who have a block or similar layered target. I have used up the center of the target with broadheads, which is probably a common issue. I cut the steel straps and removed the plastic wrapping so the layers are free. I took the top section of the target down to the point where it is shot out in the center off, and replaced it with the center section. Then I reorganized the center section so it is a little bit more solid and placed it on the top. Then I took two 2x4s to span horizontally on the top with two ratchet straps to squeeze the layers together again. So now I have a new section of layered foam to shoot. The target looks like a pile of crap now, but it works well.
