Hi everyone, I am a Swedish transplant on the East Coast.

Grew up in Sweden, hunting all the small and big game Sweden has to offer. Mostly moose, roe deer, fallow deer and wild boar. In high school I did a one year exchange program, got lucky enough to live with an outdoorsy family in Billings Montana and my love for the West was born!

After many more years in Sweden I moved to New Jersey a while back with my family. Have gotten into some deer and waterfowl hunting here, but more and more longing for the hunts out west. Have done a couple of guided antelope trips to Wyoming and also two DIY deer hunts in Montana. More and more, I am looking at DIY hunts as it brings a whole different sense of accomplishment. Not to mention the budget...

Have started doing some research on tags and regulations also gathered a couple preference points in Wyoming. Soon enough I will start posting here as I have a ton of open questions. Wish I had more knowledge to contribute back, but if anyone is looking at Sweden as a hunting destination I am your guy! (Hint - it is pretty difficult as it is all private land)

Oh, and I have four sons, the oldest is 9 and I am blessed that at least the two oldest clearly share my passion for the outdoors. So when looking for a hunt, I always want something I can bring my kids along on and in a couple of years I expect they will carry their own guns. I am mostly a rifle hunter at this point, but slowly getting up to speed with my bow as well.

Take care, looking forward to chatting with some of you on this forum! No doubt a good place and a lot of great people.

Welcome , One of my favorite rifles is my 6.5x55 I bet you have spent some time with one of those . Come back to Montana some day.
You bet. My favorite gun is a Carl Gustaf 3000 6.5x55 with a Zeiss 3-12*56. I have taken everything from moose to snowshoe hare with that gun. I gave it to my cousin when I left Sweden, he is keeping it for me and every once in a while I go back home and use it. Last August I took a small roe buck with the gun when my oldest son was in the stand with me. Great times.

And I am going in November on a cow elk hunt in the Gallatin area!

Thanks for all the welcomes.

Hey everyone, my name is matt. I am sure there is a few guys on here that know me from another site here in the northwest. First year eastmans member and with the mrs I was lucky enough to pull the 1 early 46-1 Idaho tag for elk. While doing some research I found this forum. I did not know there was one for eastmans and happy to be apart of it. Hopefully I will be able to get me first bull on this hunt and maybe if I am lucky a good one.

I have been elk hunting for 12 years and taken 5 antlerless elk 4 bow 1 rifle. Just never had the chance to kill a bull in the units I hunt as most of them are spike or antlerless.

I have hunted in many states and will be hunting 4 states again this year and looking forward to all the time I can get in the field and really looking forward to this hunt.
