welcome, my grandma and aunts used to go to Sweden to see fam every year. one of these days ill make it over there. new jersey huh? mustve been a great job offer:)
New Jersey is a lot better than its reputation. Some parts around NYC are miserable, but where we live it is quite beautiful. I am five minutes from the beach and the saltwater fishing is extraordinary. Just came back from a shark trip with some friends today. Hunting on the other hand is difficult, that is why I am looking to make at least one trip per year out west.

Your other thread is on Wyoming antelope. What other species are you interested in hunting out West?

Are you pretty much committed to Wyoming and Montana or would you look at other states too?

Do you plan on usually taking your kids with you on your hunts?

Wyoming and Montana is my starting point, since I have some experience and also friends in Billings. But totally open to other states as well, did look into elk in Colorado before we booked this fall's cow hunt in Montana. I find that with all the regulations there is a bit of a learning curve, so plan to expand my horizons over time. In terms of game species, also looking primarily at deer and elk.

And yes, always looking to bring my boys along. I have four, 9,7,5 and 2 years old. The two oldest have already been with me out west a couple of times each. In a couple of years my oldest will probably be carrying his own tag, as a matter of fact we are sitting at the kitchen table right now working on his NJ Hunter Education book :)

Get your kids earning points as early as each state allows.

To help get you acquainted, I wrote several pages last fall on how the draws work in each state and the year before that, how different states compare for each species. If you're interested, ask Eastmans' for the cross-state MRS for 2014 and 2015 or PM me and I'll look up which issues those were.
