There were a few folks on another thread that wanted to see how I lace my boots, It was easier to do a video then trying to explain it in writing.

Remember this is by no way the end all way to lace boots!! This is just a technique that works for me. I think the key to this technique is the use of Sherpa knots. The Sherpa knots put equal pressure on two eyes or hooks at the same time then the double or triple overhand knot keeps everything locked in place. You will probably have to experiment on the location of the Sherpa with the double or triple overhand knots depending on how many hooks or eyes you have. Make sure to loosen the laces, smooth out the sock, set your heel in the boot before you lace the middle and upper part of the boot.

Sorry about being long winded in the video! Remember that this is what works for me but might help those that have a problem with setting the heel in place.

Feel free to comment and add your Technique to the thread.. Mark

Thanks Mark, definitely looks like a good technique I am going to have to try out. I sometimes get the foot jam while going down hill, so this should help out considerably. Thanks again!!!

I use a technique similar to that, that I learned from Lathrop and Sons (a sheet that came with my boots). I am definitely going to try that though, thanks!

Wow now if that just didn't make lacing your boots confusing I don't know what will. Haha I am defiantly going to give this a try! Do you feel this makes a difference in all boots, or more in the "mountain boots"? I have not broke down and bought the mountain boots yet cause I like the real light weight flexible boots.

Thanks for the video! I do a fairly similar lacing technique, but only do one sherpa knot and don't do the double and triple overhands. I'm looking forward to trying this style out and see if it makes it even better! By the way, I have the same boots... love them!

The double or triple overhands really lock the laces and keeps them from slipping. After these boots were broken in they have been my favorites. I broke a ankle years ago and these boots really support it well. In fact I don't think I even worried about the ankle last season. Where I hunt is steep and tons of loose rock and I needed a boot that would support the ankles.

Nicely done 25contender. Had a guy show me that Sherpa knot technique on a pair of Asolo's 10 years ago. It absolutely is a great way to pull your heel down in your boot. Just got a new pair of the Lowa's and can't wait to get them broke in and molded properly. Thanks for the tip. On the Asolo's I only used one sherpa's knot. Can't wait to try your method.

I tried your technique last weekend on a turkey hunt and it really made a difference, thank you so much for sharing. I have the Lowas as well and love them, now they stay snug all day long and are that much better.
