Spent nine days helping a good friend hunt his Nevada pronghorn. We ended up concentrating our efforts in some country where the bucks hung out in cedars (junipers) which for us was a new and challenging way to hunt antelope. One evening we spotted a great buck who came out of the thick stuff and showed himself for a short time out along the edge of a lake bed. He was very tall with excellent prongs and curl on top. This is the only good picture I got of him at about 1200-yards thru the spotting scope.

This guy didn't stay in the open very long before disappearing into the cedars. Much as we tried we could not keep track of him. Some other very nice bucks were found. But we could not get too excited about them with that big guy on our minds. Here's a couple of shots of one of the nice ones I was able to get pictures of.

A couple of days later we spotted a good looking buck a long ways off with some of the characteristics of the big one we had gotten the brief look at earlier. We started the long walk to close the distance. After going three miles (according to my GPS) we knew we were close. Staying down wind, sneaking around in the scattered cedars, we spotted antelope hide thru some branches. We were close. My buddy dropped his pack and went ahead by himself. I stayed put keeping my eyes on the antelope looking thru my 10x bino's. As he maneuvered to get a clear view, I was able to see horns. The buck didn't look quite like the big guy. But he was pretty darn nice. I wondered if my friend would go ahead and take him or not.

A shot rang out answering that question. He realized it wasn't the one we really wanted, but after hunting hard for a week, he made the quick decision to shoot. I was glad he did. His shot was easy. Only a little over 100-yards.
