I had a Leupold RXIV 1000yd rangefinder with the TBR but not the newer DNA mode. I had trouble with it last year ranging in very cold weather past 400yds on game. I always had trouble past 450-500yds on game with it. I did some saving and trading and just got a Leica rangefinding binocular the Geovid HD-B. So far myself and everyone I've showed it to just says wow. I have ranged deer out to 900yds and a hunting shack at 2040. Everything I've ranged has given instant readings. Using the Leupold side by side I couldn't read a brick silo at 730yds with the Leupold and the Leica easily ranged it instantly. It is extremely expensive but combines very good binoculars with one of the best rangefinders on the market. I would definitely recommend it as of now. I just got it so haven't had it in cold weather yet.

The only rangefinder I have ever been happy with is the Leica I have now. I wouldnt even consider any other make.

I'm with musket man leica makes a great product and there customer service is also top notch. i had a problem with one that i had so sent it in and they sent me the newest model from that year the 1600 and no cost no questions asked

Nikon-Junk, Leupold-Junk!! I've had several of each and I'd rather not own a rangefinder. I've been running the Geovid HD-b bino's and love them. Before that I had a Zeiss 8x26 PRF and that was an awesome unit. I'm assuming the newer Leica handhelds are phenomenal as well!!

Refurbished models from Leica are a no-no they won't honor them, have heard some bad stories about warranty work on there refurbs!!

Who has the 1000 Leica? What is the real world ranging on fur/nonreflective material. My Bushnell was a 1000yd but failed on fur past 225yds. Worked at the range to 750yds on paper or steel tags. Guess I'm going to get one and test it. Not on a hunt!
I've used CameralandNY too and was very happy with the deal I got.
SWFA is another good place. I traded in an old spotter and was pleasantly surprised at what they paid me for it.

You won't have those kind of problems with a Leica, I'd bet my wife and kids on that!!

I have a Leica CRF 1200. It will read on anything at 900-1000ysd. If it dont read the first time its farther then that. I have got it to read to 1321 on a snow bank ans 1284 on a tree. Most RF's are only reliable at 1/2 of their range or less. The Leica is the only one I have seen that will read reliably near its advertised range and is the only RF I would recommend to anyone.

On the leica the 1600 does not have angle compensation it does give u a degree of angle then u can calculate it or use your mildot master to get the true yardage the 1600 b does have angle compensation in it and also has a ballistic program in it so plug in the ballistics of your rifle and it will give you turret come ups if I'm not mistaken. It would be the same set up as wood ticks but his are the binos but same program in it. Wood tick have u used the ballistics in yours yet? I was going to get the geovids b's but since the angle compensator wouldn't start angle inclination till 100 yards I just went with the Swarovski el non range finding.

Several years ago I dropped a pair of demo Geovid's 10x42 NON HD's (purchased through cameraland) that I had for about 3 years and broke the eye piece. I sent them in for repair and told the part that they needed to repair was on back order for about 10-12 weeks, I said that was not an option. I had an elk hunt in 6 weeks that took me 14 years to draw the tag, 3 days later I had a brand new pair of 10x42 HD's on my door step with a note in the box saying "hopefully the new HD's we came out with this year will help you on your elk hunt!"
I'm sold for life on Leica after that!!!
