I have always been under the assumption most larger animals survive a fire like this. Anyone know contrary to that? I'd like to think they all survived and headed west, away from the smoke and to my honey hole, but not sure how realistic of a thought that is.

The animals will just move around the fire. Once this fire is done and you can see the results you will see pockets that the fire for some reason just left alone while everything around it is burnt to the ground. I have even seen animals moving back into a area as the ground is still smoldering and laying in the ashes. The presumption that fire burns everything in its path is just a old Walt Disney story.

It is a little too late for this area to start to rejuvenate this year but it could and should be a hunting meca for quite a few years to come once the grasses and brush start to come back.
