I'm wondering how many of you guys that archery elk and mule deer hunt in North Central NM see black bears? Is it worth buying an over the counter tag if I'm only going to be there 5 days?

I guided in the area years ago for about a month- never saw a bear. I don't recall any of the guides seeing a bear either but if you don't buy a tag you may kick yourself. I have a mountain lion tag here in Nebraska even though I haven't ever seen one... makes the early morning day dreams more fun while on stand. Chances are you won't have an opportunity but having the tag to me makes the hunt more interesting.
