Under Armour sponsored his wife?? ive never heard of these people ever before until now. she must be a pretty big deal for her to be sponsored or can just anyone post pics and vids to get sponsored?? Granted I don't spend a whole lot of time surfing the web other than this site and other outdoor stuff, but still surprised ive never heard of them. I guess not being a fan of under armour may have something to do with that. just goes to show though, you must be careful what's posted, PC or not. there is a time and a place for everything. pick your battles kind of a thing.

I know what you mean about not knowing about people that are sponsored by a company in the outdoors.

Before I went on my grizzly hunt in BC I had never heard of a lady that had been up there hunting the year before that was listed as a recommendation. I talked to her for quite a while and then I started to notice her on outdoor programs and advertisements.

Under Armour is taking a lot of flack from social media. A lot of facebook posts want a boycott of all of their products by hunters. They are claiming that UA is anti hunting because they dropped the sponsorship.
I don't know what to think in this case. It's UA's money, they can sponsor who they want. I really don't think they are anti hunting, I just think they want to distance themselves from this "situation". What I didn't notice till I read the above article and re-watched the video is that there was a camera attached to the spear. Why?? Does he think that his audience wants to see the kill and/or penetration??
Like I said, I don't know what to think here. I would never go hunting with a spear. It was legal in B.C.(for now). I think people that edit and post videos on You Tube should and will do a better job of editing them from now on
Like you guys said, be very careful what you post on there. You never know who is watching.

My problem with UA is that it was a legal hunt with a legal weapon. The animal did not suffer any more than if you would of shot it with a arrow or eve a rifle, I base this on how far it went before it expired.

The camera on the spear is just that a camera on a spear. The TV show Relentless Pursuit does the same thing. If you would like to see some of their videos just Google it.

As for boycotting UA, that is up to the individual but UA should look to see who is the majority purchaser of their product before they start making judgments like this one, I am just guessing that hunters are in the majority here.

That's right. UA did not handle this well at all. I think the backlash from this is going to be around for a long time.
I really don't have a problem going hunting with a spear(to each their own) as long as it is legal.
What we don't know is who is the majority of the UA clients. Maybe it's not hunters that's why they signed contracts with professional hunters for more visibility.
Was it wrong to post the video? Some say yes, some say no. We each have our own opinion,
However I do feel it does not make us look good as hunters

She was part of a Hoyt Archery and UA marketing campaigns to appeal to the female hunters. She is also a fitness "guru" along with her husband which is probably why she was picked up by these companies. Her story is something like a former vegetarian turned archery hunter. This is part of the marketing strategies employed by corporate America. Find the next growth segment and go after it. However just remember everything is hyper sensitive nowadays with social media and all.
