I was able to make the long road trip(23 hrs.)from OR to AZ for my first ever Coues hunt. Until I reached my hunting unit I had never even seen a Coues deer. The fact that I had never set foot in the unit and this would be a solo hunt made for a little bit of nervousness. But still, I was like a kid at Christmas, as I headed for my new adventure. I was lucky enough to connect on a good buck that easily met the benchmark I had set for myself. These little guys are tiny; they are amazing little critters, perfectly suited for the tough environment they thrive in. I had a great trip, learned a ton and can't wait to go back. Next up is a Javelina tag that I drew for February. It is also the first time and in a unit I have never been to. I can't wait!
