Couldn't find what the max points in Arizona for Bison is, anyone know?

Trying to figure out if I should keep building points, also as a non-resident and those tag fees am I wasting my $15 app fee etc...

I have something like 10 pts currently, but a trophy bull tag fee is $5500, could probably just pay for a ranch hunt at that rate right?

Also are Arizona bison free ranging? aren't some areas?

Thanks.

I forgot to mention that the 20% bonus pass is by genus for buffalo (just like sheep) and not by hunt code like deer, elk, antelope, etc. All the trophy bull tags could be gone before the random draw 2nd pass. You could have a 0% chance at drawing the bull tag without max points. I'm not saying this is the case because I haven't looked at the detailed draw stats but it's possible. You might want to dig a little deeper. I bet one of those yearlings would taste great!

They are free range with two areas Raymond ranch east of Flagstaff my choice and the harder is House Rock the hardest one.
Limit is one per lifetime.
Now i have to figure out what 30-06 round to use.

Could never figure out why anyone would want to shoot one other than strictly for the meat (Which is really good by the way). If your just looking at shooting one for the meat just go to one of those ranches and blast one and save the hassle of having to deal with a government program/entity.

You can go to SD or ND and shoot one for half that price. And they drag them out with a tractor for you...

I think most people don't go to just shoot one, they go to actually hunt one. To shoot one off of one of those ranches would be as exciting as shooting beef out of a pasture.
It's the thrill of the hunt for most people.

I agree, if you haven't been on a actual bison hunt then you really need to. I have been on more than a dozen of them in Utah on the Henry Mountains and they will surprise you on where they can hide. It isn't just a drive up and shoot one type of deal.

If you want one of those kind of "hunts" then go pay the money for one of them on one of the private ranches.

Look at a bison hunt Wyoming. Cow tags are easy to draw and the meat is awesome. They can have some good horns and a Jan. hide is beautiful. Don't need a guide just tag and drag and stay in Jackson. Tag is half the price for a bull. Totally random draw but cow odds are pretty good.

One problem there is that a couple nights stay in Jackson in January just might run you $2000.

When we were there the saying was, the billionaires have pushed out the millionaires.
I know what you mean. I worked in Vail, Colorado for 20 years and watched just that.

There is no way that I could afford a 2 or 3 night stay in Vail in the month of January. Even the summer months are getting real expensive.
