Looks like the random draw was good to you. Yes we've hunted it plenty, he has property in the unit, just out of LaGrande. We've taken a pile of Cows and some bucks off of it, and he has had the any bull elk archery and rut deer tags before and not hunted, his business tends to pull him away. I'm going to try and make him hunt it this time. There are some very big elk there.

This is great to hear considering Oregon's been stealing my money for 18 years, skimmed 5% of the tags for outfitters, then cut NR tags by another 2 1/2 % stealing that tag from me for the last 8 years. Would have drawn it in ~2008 and been out of there. What a great equitable system they got goin. If they would do the right thing and give me my money back I'd be out of there in a heartbeat. Arizona did the same thing to me this year, leaving me holding the bag with zero tags, having to do a Montana leftover. Unreal. The only comparison I can come up with for these states is my unemployed welfare ex and her lying attorney. The only thing they couldn't steal from me in my 2006 divorce was my hunting points, but since then legislators have been more than happy to do so. Sad but true.

Zim, you could hunt elk in Oregon every year if you wanted while you build points. There are OTC units in nearly every unit in the state. I've never drew a Mt Emily tag but I have killed some OK Oregon Bulls. You could hunt where I killed these?

I could care less to ever hunt an oregon unit that takes more than 4 points. There are plenty of great OTC places to hunt in between.

You could draw alot of tags that are good hunts with that many points. It's your choice to put in for hero units that are hard to draw. I get it done in otc units every year.

There is something to be said for learning an average ish area, finding that spot or two and hunting it often. Has paid off for me with Mule deer, works for elk too, but I usually go get cows anymore vs chasing bulls, as we don't buy beef.

It can be frustrating as a NR, when states stack the odds against you, then double down. I'm suffering that in AZ. So I feel your pain Zim.
