Pyramid lake is well known for fishing off ladders or ladder stands. The area around the nets is shallow quite aways out so fishermen will wade out as far as they can and then stand up on the ladder to get some height out of the water. In the old days we just wired a couple of milk crates together, they were metal back then, and tied a duck decoy to the crates so we could find them again after a break. In January you can only stand in that water for so long!!!!

Ivory tips, we fish on ladders at some of the beaches because some are long, sandy benches before reaching the drop offs where the fish cruise. Added bonus is not having to stand waist deep in frigid water all day, and if it's inclement with wind, you don't get beat up by the waves as badly. Sure, it's not uncommon to get swamped off your ladder, but it's not bad in three feet of water.
