Animals in NA that you don't want to hunt, or in no rush to hunt...?

I was just wondering after looking at the NA29 animals...

If anyone else out there would never hunt a certain animal, or has little/no interest in certain animals?

Or which ones are on your "back burner" ie, You want to take an elk before you consider a coues deer hunt etc...

Honestly I think I would love to take all of the NA29, but at least 5 of those I think require some $$ to be able to, and who knows what the future/populations hold as well.

My answer...
I'm not thrilled about shooting a cougar out of a tree, but I really want to take a cougar. But keep up with dogs in the mtns etc... I'm sure would make for an exciting/tough hunt, so it's a bit more than simply shooting a cat from a tree.

Coues deer are low on my list at the moment, it seems like a small whitetail to me, and we have big whitetails here in IL.

Good question. I really have no desire to hunt black bear. Never have. I've been invited several times for free as I have a friend who hunts them with hounds, and he always asks me to go. He kills some big bear too.

I'll add that my #1 would be a moose with archery equipment. Followed by Elk then Caribou. None of which I have hunted yet. I also think that Cougar would be a fun hunt.

Some may be more of a priority then others but I want to hunt them all too! Only animals I can think of I really have no desire to hunt are zebras, elephants, and rhinos. lol

Coues deer and sitka blacktail are the lowest two on my list. I live in an area that its not too hard to take whitetail, elk, mule deer, and pronghorn and I have taken good mature specimens of each. My short list which will take a while to get the tags is sheep loaded and moose centered. I dont have so much interest in the NA 29, but really want to get a North american sheep slam completed before I die.

I must be different than everyone else.. But, I have zero desire to hunt: Bison, Mt. Lion, Musk Ox, any of the Caribou, Black Bear, Polar Bear, Sitka blacktail, Columbia blacktail and Coues deer. And, I only have limited desire to hunt: Grizzly Bear, Kodiak Bear, Mt Goat or Tule elk.

If, at the end of my life, I've had the opportunity to hunt whitetails, mulies, RM elk, rosie elk, antelope, a moose, and a sheep.... I'll be a pretty happy camper.

After thinking about it I guess my answer is, I want to hunt them all. I just love to hunt! I think Deer hunting is and may always be my favorite though!

I'm so-so on goats. I've had the opportunity to shoot them and didn't pull the trigger. Same with black bear...I had one get in my house and didn't shoot him either.

If I could take a real trophy of something, it would be a Mule deer.

I'm going to flip it around and give my list by the species I want most followed by the ones I don't care about.

NA Big Game wish list:
1. RM bighorn
2. Desert bighorn
3. California bighorn (notice a trend? what can I say, like bighorn sheep)
4. Dall sheep
5. Brown bear
6. Grizzly
7. Stone/fannin sheep (pipe dream)
8. RM elk
9. Mt. Goat
10. Mule deer (RM and desert subspecies)
11. Alaska Yukon moose
12. Shiras moose
13. Antelope
14. Roosevelt elk
15. Columbia blacktail
16. Coues deer
The following are incidentals that I would take if hunting something else but I wouldn't plan a trip for these specifically
17. Sitka blacktails
18. Canada moose
19. Black bear
20. Cougar
21-25. Any subspecies of caribou
The following I have no interest in:
26. Tule elk
27. Bison
28. Muskox
29. Polar bear

I'm up to 2 so far (whitetails and mule deer) so I should have this list knocked out in a couple more years ;)

I have no desire to hunt grizzly bear, polar bear, or walrus. The cost involved in even a DYI bison hunt(on draw here in BC) is too high for me, it's a true winter hunt in a fairly remote area. I'm also not too interested in hunting the cats around here cougar, lynx, and bobcat. Pretty much everything else I would like to hunt. My absolute dream hunt and one I am starting to save for is a fly-in drop backpacking hunt in northern BC for Stone sheep with a Mountain Caribou tag in my pocket as well.

I see you're a closet Gator fan by excluding them from the list. :D

I have taken Mule Deer, Elk, Moose, Black Bear, Whitetail Deer, Blacktail Deer, Antelope, Javelina, Bison & Feral Hogs. Love to take all the sheep Alaskan Moose and caribou, but at my age the sheep are probably not really going to happen.

No desire to hunt Grizzley or Brown Bear.

All of my life I hunted to supplement my families food choices. With that in mind if I was going to spend the rest of my hunting days, it would be for elk & moose.
