I know lots of y'all have already started, but I'm still chomping at the bit waiting for opening day here. October 3rd is opening day of archery season in Texas. I'll be glassing the Canadian River breaks for mule deer and/or a stray whitetail. My neck is starting to swell already. :D

We'll be heading to Colorado for a 3rd rifle season elk hunt a month later. Also drew an aoudad/exotic hunt at Devil's River in late January. It's gonna be a fun season.

I agree, a free range aoudad hunt could be a lot of fun!
The rest of his fall is very nice too!

A free range aoudad hunt in rough country like that is a heck of a hunt. They are as skittish as a whitetail. It's probably the most under-rated big game hunt in the US. We drew a javelina/aoudad archery hunt at Davis Mountains too, but it's just a few days prior to the Devil's River hunt that we had already drawn. I hate to have to burn my points in that category, but we're gonna have to. My son doesn't need to miss that much school in one month, and I probably don't need to be gone from my office that much in a month either. LOL

The last two years we didn't draw anything. Seems like it's always feast or famine in the draw hunts for us.
