I'don't know about that. I have no problems popping the heads off of rabbits and grouse with my .340 Weatherby.12 gauge. You can hunt small game with 2 3/4" 8 shot, kill a grizzly with a 350 grain slug, and everything in between. No other gun has that versatility.
I will agree that it is a little bit over kill but it works. The last rabbit I shot with it was close to 150 yards away. It took me a while ti find him in the scope and after the shot until I saw the fur sitting 5' up in the oak brush.
I wouldn't want to do this if I was shooting factory rounds at $5+ a round but reloads work great at around a buck.
