12 gauge. You can hunt small game with 2 3/4" 8 shot, kill a grizzly with a 350 grain slug, and everything in between. No other gun has that versatility.

I'don't know about that. I have no problems popping the heads off of rabbits and grouse with my .340 Weatherby.

I will agree that it is a little bit over kill but it works. The last rabbit I shot with it was close to 150 yards away. It took me a while ti find him in the scope and after the shot until I saw the fur sitting 5' up in the oak brush.

I wouldn't want to do this if I was shooting factory rounds at $5+ a round but reloads work great at around a buck.

A .243 doesn't leave a good blood trail. I have seen this time and time again on deer. I wouldn't choose this for anything larger than deer and to be honest I would choose something other than it for deer as well. I have personally seen a bunch of deer run 150 yards after being shot in the sweet spot with a .243

Personally feel that a .243 is a shade light for elk. My son has one that is a tack driver and has killed several elk with it, that being said, you need to be a really good shot to get point of impact in the correct spot. My son hit a bull a little forward of the chest and hit a front shoulder. Bullet exploded when it hit the shoulder bone. Broke the leg, but took us awhile chasing it down. Bullet did not penetrate into the chest cavity. It would have eventually died, but who know how long it would take and how far it would have gone.

My brother and nephew shoot .243. and have lost quite a few deer. brother went to 300win mag. don't know about nephew. My opinion is 243 is a great coyote round.

7mm is hard to beat. I really like the 280 Ackley improved for an all around rifle. Nothing it can't do, low recoil. But harder to find factory ammo.
