I used all my points 2 years ago in unit 64. I hoped for the same things you mentioned, 70-80' and good access. 64 is the perfect unit for that. I hunted for 4 days and looked over nearly 300 bucks, mostly average, none over 80 (one was close). Pressure was non existent and the country was beautiful. Hopefully this worked, it's a screen shot I had on my phone. I can post others later if this doesn't turn out. Not the biggest one I seen, but he has a flare to his right antler that I thought was very unique.

I didn't score it, I would guess low 70's though. The right side is about 14", that picture probably makes it look a little bigger than it really is.

You had better do that pretty quick, before that HUGE oil/gas field goes in. It's supposed to be a lot bigger than the Jonah field in SW Wyoming. And all that activity ruined the hunting down there. You get all those access roads & truck traffic and we hunters and the wildlife loses.

I hunted 47 last year and the weather kicked our butts. October season and when we showed up the Highway was closed from Med Bow to Casper. Finally opened about 2 hours before shooting light. Roads were tough and 2 tracks were a no go. Passed up 8-10 bucks. Hit the highway coming out and it was closed again, but we were on it headed back to Med Bow. Buddy shot a decent heavy 15 1/2 incher. I went back up towards the end of the season and fought another blizzard from Chey town to Laramie. Herds were spooky has hell and the wind was every bit of 60 mph. I did see 3 shooters this time, but left with tag soup!! Great hunt even with the weather as it just added another element to the hunt. I too like the long season.

They haven't been drilling in earnest yet. But it's coming, so I've heard from friends in the oil patch.

I took my wife and son last year in the Laramie valley. We all got tags with zero preference points. We hunted walk in areas, BLM, and HMAs. All three of us shot bucks on opening day (in the snow for a change). two bucks were high 60s and mine was mid 70s. We were out just for fun and not really trophy hunting as it was their first hunt out west. If we had held out, I know we all would have shot mid 70s bucks. Save your points for area 55/60/ or 61. Call the Laramie office game and fish and they will point you in the right direction where to hunt. It's seriously pretty easy and a guaranteed draw with zero points. Like others have mentioned, apply 1st choice for the red desert and second choice where I am talking about.
