Hey Fellas! My brother and I are trying to get our ducks in row for this coming fall but are having a hard time nailing down a deer unit to go after in WY. We have hunted region W near Baggs a few times with some success but haven't been back there for a few years after the population took a dive. Now we feel like we should try to get a little more bang for our buck with these five points, we don't need to shoot B&C bucks, An average 4x4 would please either one of us. Thanks for in advance for any info!:)

Look at the draw odds. You will find about 6 LE units and 1 region you can draw with 3-5 points. 1/2 of them have poor access. It will narrow down pretty quickly.

If you are willing to fork over the money in the special draw you can draw a 141,162 or a 34 tag. They both have good access to public land and have good buck to doe ratios. The 141,162 tag special draw allows you to draw a tag that takes 9 points in the regular draw. If yo do these hunts you can avoid the crowds of a general season tag.

It's really no secret, Region G, hunt the easier terrain. No reason to beat yourself up physically if you just are looking for average 4 points. it's the most healthy area for deer in the state right now.

Yes there are bears in G. Mostly of the black bear variety, nothing to worry about. Or are ya wondering so ya can get a tag and trying to harvest a bear also?
