340 magazine question.

I am wonder what a machinist would charge me to make some savage 340 30-30 magazines? Just something I was wondering about. Or would it be cheaper to pay and order one from Brownells.

It would be cheaper to just buy one. The cost to custom build one from scratch would be much higher.

That is what I thought. Seems a little high for a stamped out sheet metal mag.

I would be willing to say that a machinist would charge you a few hundred dollars for one. And if he had to make up a stamp to make extras it would be a lot more. Then he would keep the stamp, but if you wanted the stamp he would charge you extra to sell it to you. Buy the time you were through you would be in it for at least a grand.

Just buy one from one of the dealers.

I have one somewhere. Sold the gun about 10 years ago and I came across an extra clip I didn’t know I had a couple of years later. If I can find the stupid thing you can have it.

I found it, the rifle was a model 340 but the clip says model 225 on it. I am 99.9% sure it fits both.
