I put my dad in for area 100 in the early 2000's. He drew the tag the first time out and then drew it again two years later. Put him in one more year and moved onto some other areas. Figured you only get so many opportunities to hunt 100.

If you guys can muster the points, I'd be taking a hard look at 16-1 or more likely 16-2. Hard to beat that area. 350 class or better bulls come off public access almost every year thanks to the Q's hunter management program of never letting anyone hunt unless you have some serious discretionary income...

I would like to draw a decent unit every 3 years, but that may not be possible. My general tag was cool, I shot a 340 bull with my bow.... And lost him... I'm sorry to say.

Yep, the top tier Wyoming elk tags haven't even cleared out the max point pool after 10 years. This year max points for Wyoming elk is 10. Even those 2-3 points under the max are going to wait a very, very, very, long time for those top tier tags.

Therein is the concept of "point creep", tags where the points to draw doesn't remain static and keeps climbing.

If you found a spot to kill 340 class bulls in general season, keep going at it and don't look back.

16 also pretty much takes max points or darn close to it.

Which issue is the 2016 Wy elk MRS? Isn't it usually in the December/January Hunting Journal?

So i just subscribed to the Hunting Journal so I can get all the MRS Sections (i've previously only done the EBJ) then I "upgraded" my subscription to the digital version. When will I be able to login to the Hunting Journal digital version? I don't have access yet. Does it take a few business days or something?
