Just back from my 2014 antelope hunt.. We hunted near Casper. Antelope numbers have been down in that area for the past couple of years and seemed so again. That being said we all filled our buck tags and I punched a doe tag as well. Waterholes all were full and there was lots of vegetation. In fact in the sand hills grass was waist high. The antelope were quite scattered and mostly in herds leaving lots of areas that held antelope in past years pretty empty. Not sure why. Not many hunters around which was to be expected since the numbers of tags given out is down. This was the best buck I saw. Missed him on the first chance due to what I'm sure was a incorrect range reading. I made sure on my 2nd chance! Haven't scored him yet but I'm thinking 77-78".

Nice job, good looking buck. Ill be heading out with my boys next week to chase them around. The numbers were low in our unit last year also, hoping we can find a couple good ones like that.

Great buck, I'll be in the Casper area within 14 days!!! I'm hunting til I find that magical 80" haha!
I wish you good luck. I saw some real good bucks around earlier in the summer but not sure where they've gone. I covered quite a bit of country and didn't see any better. In the past I've seen bucks that I was certain would make the book in fact I thought I had one 3-4 years ago. I watched a buck for 2-3 hours the day before the season and pretty much put him to bed. Found him the next morning (or so I thought) and put him down but it ended up being a different but similar looking buck.. Scored 78 5/8 but I sure the one I scouted was 82-84".

Love that buck in your avatar.....
thank you, that was my buck from wy last year. he's my best to date and I was very happy with him. I should be getting him back from the taxidermist pretty quick here. the worst part about waiting to get a mount back is right about the time it should be getting done and I think the taxi is going to call any day now.
