I don't know why I am so anxious. I already paid for point savers on elk and deer.
There is no way I am pulling a "random pool" lope, or 1 in a thousand sheep/goat.

I can dream though:eek:

Why not Jim? I drew in the past, it could be you man!

I'm am more anxious for my daughters, they are in for some hunts that will be fun if they draw. One has a very good chance at her deer tag, the other is in for sheep.

You guys are getting me excited about the draw now! Hurry up Oregon game and fish!
Good luck Alabama, I think if your putting in for sheep anyway,I'd definitely buy pts. for everything. You can still go OTC(for now) if time and money allows.Archery has a lot of options, but the trend is for all the private timber companies to either close for fire danger or charge a fee, or both.(kind of a bummer) I do agree with these other guys that Rosi's and BT bucks can be tough, but the more your out here to figure it out, the better off you'll be when you draw the more sought after controlled tag.
I also, go with low point options for my choices, because the popular tags are not worth the wait IMO. As UH said, out of state hunts(WY, CO, MT, ID, UT, NV) are amazing, as far as going to a unit you've never been to and coming away with a good Deer, Elk or Antelope. I'd definitely choose them first, but like I said earlier if you are already buying a license to put in for sheep, I'd go for it.
Just go into your Rosi or Blacktail hunt knowing that any legal critter DIY for someone that hasn't been here awhile, is a good accomplishment. WARNING: It is addictive though!
Hope you draw something good!

No reason not to buy points, but I would use them east of the Cascades for elk. Deer, well Alabama can figure that out, not many draw hunts for Blacktail.

Even though I'm not expecting to draw anything this wait is putting me in a stress coma. Driving me crazy! I think most of it is not knowing the exact time/date they're posting results.

They used to release the web results the day after they mailed the cards so most would get results the same day. With no cards going out, I'm guessing some pencil pusher decided it wouldn't be fair to release early because somebody might actually wait till the 20th to check...

I agree with hunting for Rosie's and black tails(or Columbia white tails). There's not a lot of places to do it and the draw is cheaper than buying those hunts. Yes it's expensive but if you have the money and desire why not. Plus you are in for sheep, pronghorn, and now goat. If you are applying in multiple states then the quality for the $ does not equate for drawing in eastern oregon with lower quality than elsewhere, limited quality tags, and long draw odds.

I hear ya, that's a good plan. Points for east and otc west. If you don't care about record books a guy could save for a White River blacktail(late). Not sure on Rosi. I think I'd still stick to otc archery.

Just as well that I didn't draw OR I already have too much leave planned for the Wyoming & Colorado elk seasons.

Coupled with a good deal of general archery hunting deer & elk, something would have been pushed off the plate.

NEXT YEAR !!!!!!! How is that for optimism:cool:

Nothing exciting for me. Looks like archery or first season general bull and blacktails at home again.
Good luck to all of you!

I drew Metolius Muzzy Deer. It should be a good hunt this fall. My stinkin' brother drew Mt Emily #2 with zero points! I'm going to have to help a brother out!!!! With Wyoming elk for me and Mt Emily elk for him there's going to be some fun hunts this fall!
