Thanks. To answer some questions. The bulls were rutting pretty good. I have not used a bugle in 10 years, sometimes use a cow call. By the time the end of Sept. rolls around the elk have heard pretty much everything - best to just shut up and try to ambush them. This is the third bull in 3 tags I've been able to harvest in Wyoming with a bow - all ambush/sit and wait for them to come to me. Shots range from 60 yrds, 20 yrds and this year was 25 yrds. The herd bulls are tough to get this time of year as they have what they want. The antlers look white due to the greyish/white dirt and he had been wallowing just prior to getting shot. He's actually very dark horned underneath all the mud. Can't wait to draw again. Come on random tag for next year.
