Here's photos of my 2013 antelope from Unit 48 in WY. This year's hunt was a complete opposite of last year's. The animals were spread out far and wide due to the fact that water was EVERYWHERE. Ended up shooting the buck on the third day at 175 yards in a gale-force wind (it was a constant 30-40 mph the first 3 days we were there). Best part was that my 5-yr old was able to come with me, although if you ask him, his favorite part of the trip was the fishing on the Miracle Mile.

We just finished processing the antelope this weekend (1 buck, 2 does), and I had a tenderloin last night. Some of the best steak I've had in quite some time. With antelope, it's all in how you take care of them after the shot!

I hunted unit 48 on Sept 25 with 2 type 6 doe tags, and the wind was screaming then. It was steady 30 mph with 50mph gusts. After blowing my first shot due to the wind I readjusted and managed to drop my 2 does by 8:30am opening day. Hunting antelope in WY is a blast, but dealing with the wind like this really sucks.

My son did really well - all things considered. I couldn't hunt all day long as I normally would, but he was good for hunting from about 10am thru dark. Just made sure that he had plenty of food to munch on during the extended periods in the vehicle. I wanted to get out and hunt at first light, but thought it better to let him sleep in until he woke up in the morning - especially since we usually weren't getting to bed until 9-10pm or later (well past his normal bedtime). If I hadn't let him go fishing, it would have been a totally different story. He wouldn't ever forgive me if I'd made him hunt the ENTIRE trip.
