Yeah, I had a similar experience with a WY warden seeking info on an elk unit. The gentleman was professional, polite, and called me back promptly. As much as I gripe about the WY draw process and public land access challenges, I have yet to deal with @$$ at the WY G&F.

Ya know what else? The Walmart in Laramie is the cleanest and nicest one I've ever been in.

Regards,

I?ve dealt with both Bart and Heather O? Brien. Both class acts. Very, very helpful and polite. I genuinely felt like they wanted me to enjoy myself and be successful. Bravo, Wyoming, for hiring such classy biologists and wardens.

I've been stopped by wardens from Casper, Rawlins, and Laramie. All have been extremely helpful.
Years ago my son forgot his jacket in the Laramie office, it was waiting for us at home in Colorado when we got back. They boxed it up and sent it without us even calling.

While bear hunting this spring, I was checked by game warden Biff Burton. After checking my license, he hung around camp for awhile and chatted. Great guy!

Last year I was on Day 12 of a solo trip, had been in Wyoming for about 3 days when this mirage appeared, it was a beautiful blonde woman wearing a Wyoming game wardens outfit. Spoke with her for a bit and she checked my license. She vanished in a cloud of dust. I can also confirm that she was a class act and an outstanding representative for Wy game and fish. Back east of the Mississippi the game wardens for the most part aren?t on the same level.

Most of the officers of the game and fish departments out west here are nice they don't want to have a confrontation with you even if you are doing something wrong they will try and help you understand just what you did to get the citation. One big thing that you have to realize out west here is that their backup may be hours away from them if something should happen. They depend on us sportsmen more than you would think and they usually treat us like equals. They also understand hunting and fishing and most will go out of their way to help you get your animal by letting you know where they are located at or their habits for a certain time of year.

In all my years hunting I have never came across one that wasn't helpful. I have came across a couple that were office jockies and had no idea what they were doing on opening day of the hunting seasons, it was just their time to go out and check hunters on the opening. One that I ran across had no idea that there was a fishing pond just a few hundred yards away from where I was talking to him at or what type of fish they had been stocking on the mountain. Another one checked me out and then kept me there for over a hour just talking about my shotgun that I had with me along with the pistol that I was using that year to hunt with.

When it comes down to it they are just good people just like the rest of us.

I've only been checked by wardens once in Wyoming, and the lady warden that checked my license had actually lived in my small hometown in Indiana for a year or 2. Small world!

I've been hunting WY for the past 5 years. Over that time I've had multiple phone and in person conversations with G&F biologists and wardens and all have been very professional, helpful, and seem to be just good people that really enjoy what they do.

Bart was the biologist in Douglas for many years and was my neighbor growing up. What an asset to have

I agree, the Wyoming game dept folks are top notch humans and I have not encountered better.

I did have the displeasure to meet a Wyoming brand inspector and a county sheriff that must have been abused children, what a couple of butt holes those guys were. I think they were performing for a fat old rancher that was watching.

I agree with many of the above. every conversation on the phone and in the field with ANYONE in the Game and Fish department has been helpful and professional over the last 20+ years. They have been the best to deal with in the country that I have dealt with.

I got in the middle of a situation in Colorado a couple years ago where I had some involved contact with a warden. I didn't have a tag, but had rented a horse for some friends who had muzzy elk tags. One of the guys had shot a spike (which were NOT legal)..his mistake as he thought that the spike constituted a 5" or more brow tine. I packed out the elk and told him to immediately report it to G&F. I was sorely disappointed in my "friend", as he did not do so and I became the one to do the talking to the warden. The CO was totally professional, and ultimately did a fine job in dealing with the situation. My ex-bud didn't blame me for it, but I will never hunt with him again.

I talked to the biologist and the warden for the area I will be hunting this fall. I had to leave messages for both (guess those aren’t desk jobs), but both returned my calls promptly and both were very helpful.

One of the nicest and friendliest Wardens I've ever met was Warden Brian Olsen. Very helpful, informative and professional. Give him a raise!
