1 Wyoming PP - What unit would you choose?

I have 1 PP. Definately going to apply for a tag this fall. Debating about what unit to apply for. Don't need a trophy buck, but wouldn't mind one either. Would really like good public access, and a good chance to harvest a respectable buck.

I have found with 1 PP, the SPC draw opens up a lot of country. So much so, that I am a little overwhelmed about where I should be focusing my attention.

With 1 PP, regular or special draw, what unit would you choose and why?

If you are after a "respectable" buck, you can hardly go wrong with any unit with good public access. Really! There is a reason antelope success is up over 85% in nearly every unit in Wyoming. Since you are coming from Iowa, find something on the eastern half of the state. If you get the Eastman's MRS, pick any unit that is a "blue" or "green" unit with good access and you will have a really fun hunt. You will likely have a better chance at drawing a "green" unit, because "blue" units with good draw odds tend to attract more applicants.

Don't hunt the opener, generally hunting after the second weekend of the season, on weekdays when the locals are at work makes for a fun unpressured hunt.

You may want to look at areas 46-2, 47-2 and 48-2. Decent antelope there but not many monsters. There are HMA's in 46 and 47 you can hunt on. Shot a decent buck in 46 but its been a while since I've hunted there.

Unit 32 = lots of antelope, lot of ground, good access & 80% odds of drawing with 1 PP. Also some of the best trout fishing in the nation. Miracle Mile!

My Dad, Brother, and I hunted unit 27 October 2012. There were lots of antelope where we were, and lots of land. A fair amount of other guys, but we had 3 bucks down by the second morning of the season.

I'll second that. We hunted 63 and fished the Miracle Mile in the 3rd week of September last year. Some of the best fishing I've had in a long time!
