    Unit 45 Elk- first rifle

Since they are donkeys I get a ton of questions on the trail from other users. Everyone asks what they are carrying. If the crowd is right, I usually say hookers and blow. Gets a few laughs.

    Unit 45 Elk- first rifle

Sorry I didn't see the first two replies! Day 1: We packed in from the Jacks Creek area up into the large burn . About 6 miles from the trailhead. We saw one backpacker coming out from Pecos Baldy Lakes. He said it was about 6 degrees that night up there. Setup camp in a epic little meadow with...

    Packing with burros/donkeys

I've now done three backcountry hunts with them in griz country around yellowstone park. I do tie a bailing string breakaway onto their highline and leave a AM/FM radio on pretty loud. I stick them near my tent and away from the cooking/eating/bear hang area. I also keep my camp real visible...

    Packing with burros/donkeys

    Coot hunting in nm

I shoot probabaly 20-30 a year. I actually use them for dog training treats, and I eat a couple each year to. Usually make them as tacos and I haven't noticed any terrible taste. There is a suprisingly liittle amount of meat on them. Their rib cage is actually pretty huge and the breasts are...

This isn't quite what your asking but my quarter horse can drain a five gallon bucket after a hard day of work. Only 14 gallons for three horses plus people? Is this just a overnight trip?

    Unit 45 Elk- first rifle

Well NM draw came up empty handed for me this year but my wife drew first rifle elk for unit 45. We live up in the east mountains so logistically this one wont be to bad. We also have two pack burros, so we are able to pack in. I haven't spent much time up there except for a backpack trip up...
