    Hunting CO?

I agree that population growth and and technology have definitely made it easier to hunt and increased pressure. The lack of up front fees didn't help either. Who all remembers having to use a paper map and their odometer to figure out where the public land started along BLM 1111 about 3.3...

    Time is up! Good luck!

They extended the deadline to 4-9-21 at 8:00pm MST. Now I have to spend more time thinking about my applications. Thanks Colorado!

    Fair Chase?

Some of that surplus camouflage works pretty well. Woodland and tiger stripe, my favorite, are great when hunting hardwood forest before the leaves drop. I love the smell of the Army-Navy Store. Unfortunately the smell in my local store is starting to fade as the surplus dries up and they order...

    NM oryx?

The application deadline is March 17th. I believe the later hunts are probably more popular because other seasons (deer and elk) are closed. Southern NM can be hot in September into October. Even if if it's just warm the logistics of the hunt can make it hard to keep meat edible that time of year.

    Alternate Venison Roast usage

Slice thinly and make a stir fry. I use the seasoning packages from the grocery store. Cube the roast and your favorite stew veggies and pressure cook until it's mushy. Then add some flour to thicken. Serve on tortillas with cheese and your favorite salsa/pico. Carne guisada.

    6.5 To kill an elk?

It's definitely superior to an arrow. I was also surprised when I saw the actual specifications on the 6.5 CM. With all the hype I thought it must shoot a 400 grain bullet at 5000 fps.

    How are preference points weighted?

They average your preference points out to four decimal places. Your group would have 3.6000 points so a group of anything greater than that would draw before your group.

    Meat processing around Laramie WY

I'm no help for information on processors, but do you normally process meat yourself or have a good processor back home? We quarter them in the field and drive back into town for ice, then keep them iced until we get home. If we're camping in the area sometimes we don't have to go into town...
