Is Deer Meat Worth Adding to a Regular Diet?

What Jim said. I was raised on venison and love it. I butcher my own meat plus grind my burger and make brats and breakfast sausage. With my first serving I can usually tell if is going to have a strong flavor. If I suspect it is going to be strong, I soak the meat overnight in buttermilk in...

Any Tips for Finding Bigger Bucks in Wyoming?

There is no real substitute for boots on the ground.....unless it is money to hire a guide. Preseason scouting is the way to get a feel for the area you plan to hunt. There are tons of videos, forums and people who will give you advice. If you plan on going with an outfitter, one thing to keep...

    Hunting in our National Parks

I read to that Trump is ordering the Dept of Interior consider allowing hunting in our National Parks and more hunting on Federal lands and more access to wilderness areas. Has anyone heard about this? I am for hunting in NP's that have an overpopulation of a species that has become a problem...

SIRT Training Gun Discussion and Safety Questions

I have been shooting competition bulls eye pistol for 25 years . I personally don't think anything (other than than actual practice) is better than dry firing. I put a 1" round orange stickem on the wall in my shop and dry fire for 15 or 20 minutes 3 or 4 times a week. I have an average of...

CO Right to Fish & Hunt Initiative

I encourage everyone to go on the Colorado Parks & Wildlife website and register to comment on anything that they are taking public comment on. I commented against the current study on making it illegal to take any furbearers and using their skins to make anything for sale. This is another...

    This Year's Colorado Draw

This year the Colorado draw results will be posted almost a week before the Wyoming application deadline (June 1) . That is a good thing (at least for me) because I'll know if I am successful here, then I won't apply for deer tags in Wyoming because it will have a conflict in the date I hunt in...

    Turkey Number Two and Three

My Dad used to raise pheasants for a hunting club back in the early 1950's. I remember they used to fight and once blood was seen, they would peck the bird to death. Dad used to use a soldering iron and trim the top beak back and it helped, pretty stinky job as I remember. Our garage used to be...

    Gear for 2026

I really have everything I need, just replacing stuff when it breaks or wears out. I did but a new camp lanturn and retired my forever Coleman gas. It is LED and has batteries. It really puts out the light and I don't have to screw around with fuel and mantles.

    Forest Service Reorganization

Same situation down here in SW Co. There is a lot of internal back biting between the Forest Service and the BLM. They are always competing to see who's in charge.

    Poaching Idaho Commissioner

What really gets me is that he has 10 charges, all misdemeanors and no felonies. There should be provisions in the law after a certain number of them, they should be upgraded to felonies. This guy probably plea bargin and get only a slap on the wrist.

    2026 prhunter Arizona Javelina hunt

My Dad and I used to hunt them and they were not bad. Like all game animals, you can't compare them to their domestic cousins. The best one Dad ever did was cooked on his outside grill that he had made. It had a rotisserie that would do a whole animal of about 100#. He had made a plywood cover...
