In a couple of areas that I have hunted the rut is almost over the first week of November but in other areas it has a couple of weeks before it starts. So a lot will depend on the area and the movement of the deer. If it is dependent on snow I would plan on hunting high and then move downward...

As I have gotten older I have found that hunting isn't about killing but the enjoyment of the hunt. How do you score that? I'll go for years without killing a deer, but also in those years I pass up a lot of bucks that others will send a bullet at.
