    Elk Hunting Tricks

I am no expert, but I have been involved in more than a few elk dying over the years... - Get up early. - Stay out late. - Play the wind and the thermals the best you can. - Don't call until your in eminent range. - There are many other noises one can make in the woods (other than bugles and...

    skunked in Colorado

I cant speak for everywhere but where I was hunting elk they were COMPLETELY bedded by 8:00AM and didn't move until an hour before dark. The temps were just too high for them to be active mid-day. In over 80 miles and 8 days of being in the woods from well before daylight to well after dark, I...

    2020 Elk Hunt

This is how the hunt ended. Better late than never. The hunting pressure was so extreme this year. It appeared that everyone there was pretty gung ho. 2nd to last evening. 20 yard broadside shot. My buddy with his 6X6 grueling pack-out. Got mine on the last evening last 30 minutes. 4.5 yard...

    2020 Elk Hunt

I didn't touch the snake. Its just a gopher snake and it was at 10,800'. I took a picture of it and left it right where I found it. Packing the shed out while hunting just was not practical. Not even in the least little bit. I travel with a very small day pack and would have had to carry it...

    2020 Elk Hunt

We took that picture and left it lying there... Packing it around for the rest of the day in the terrain we were in was NOT an option. My wife did not agree at the time but about an hour later she understood why we left it. lol

Getting things ready for your seasons.

Meh, I cant hit anything past 200 yards anyhow so I guess I have nothing to contribute to the MOA debate.... I just hide behind a flamingo decoy and move closer...lol T-Minus 18 hours and I am heading through the eye of a hurricane (Literally from the looks of things) for Colorado...

    FALL PLANTING - SERPENTS....

Reminds me of the blacksnake in the outhouse when my sister was little. My 90 year old uncle Domer heard the screams and ran (as fast as a 90 year old guy could run) to the outhouse with a garden hoe and chopped its head off. The whole time my dad was telling him it was probably just a snake...

    Bullet choices?

I reloaded some Nosler ballistic tip hunting bullets out of my Father in laws .270 with very good results. Never killed an animal with this but I would assume they are pretty deadly judging form the two bucks I shot with my 30-06 last year with basically the same load. They both died...
