A friend from Arizona sent me a email about this bull.
Here is a short part of it. I can believe the auction price but the outfitters fee sounds real high, but you never know.
Unit 27 early bull tag. He said the tag was over $300K and the outfitter $150K. He said it was shot near Hannagan...
I believe that they are diverting air support from the Grizzly Creek fire to get the new one handled fast. There are also reports of smoke on New York Mountain east of where I live.
Then on FB they are linking to a fire that was called the Red Canyon fire back in 2018 south of Craig in north...
I think that most non residents would like a either sex tag along with some residents.
At least that way they have a better chance of taking something home for what they have to pay for a tag.
Leadville is way south of these fires.
Not saying that there won't be some fires down that way. However on road closures, Highway 82 is open and traffic is being metered. No semis or long travel trailers at this time. I'm not just sure how far out of Leadville or past Twin Lakes you can...
I think that one of the big problems with the units that went to the draw for archery is that there are a greatly reduced number of tags along with them being bull only or cow only for elk.
That and looking at the left over list there are not that many archery tags left, at least now. There...
Both would be a very cool thing to find.
With the way that the native tribes used to drive bison off of cliffs it is very possible that upstream there are some good cliffs where they were driven off of and then butchered either in or just off of the side of the river.
They say that it is legal in Idaho, and it past muster here in Colorado. All it is doing is placing a iron peep sight on with a insert on the front sight.
But wouldn't it be nice..........
Denny Austad from Idaho has made it a habit of buying Governors tags in Utah for both elk and mule deer. He has hunted mule deer on Antelope Island a couple of times and he is the one who shot the spider bull.
In a couple of areas that I have hunted the rut is almost over the first week of November but in other areas it has a couple of weeks before it starts.
So a lot will depend on the area and the movement of the deer. If it is dependent on snow I would plan on hunting high and then move downward...
In most areas ranchers and farmers can legally shoot animals that are feeding or destroying their fields or crops. But after shooting the animal they have to report it.
The one in this thread was just a killing. Most poachers however rotten they are usually take something from the dead...
It usually turns out to be a 20 something male. With no regard to anything.
Sad part is that unless they start to brag or post some pictures they will never be caught
