    Wall tent stove recommendation

I'm going to buy a wall tent stove, looking to see what others have, and like. I've got a 12x12 tent, primarily will use it in October/November in Wyoming, and will put lump coal in also. Also want a flat top to cook on, with a hot water side tank. Was going to get a 4 dog stove, but they...

    Terminator Turkey

For all the Turkey hunters out there who have shot, thought for sure they hit the mark, but that old tommy got away. He was a likely a terminator Turkey sent to the past to protect other Turkey's. Good luck this season!

    Well, that's a first

While out sighting in my muzzle loader today, and shooting a few other rifles, a chicken walks up to us, and just stand around by us. The nearest house is about 5 miles away, so I got to believe someone road side dumped it. We shot dozens of times, and he just stood right by us. My son feed him...

    Wisconsin bear

Got a Wisconsin bear tag! My brother has been running baits for better part of 10 years now, and they have had some very good success, so I'm hoping that will continue. Going to be using a .50 muzzle loader, unless it's raining, then I'll switch over to a rifle. Looking forward to spending...

Your very first big game animal

What was your very first big game animal? Mine was a Whitetail archery hunt in Northern Wisconsin where I'm original from, I was 13 years old. I was standing about 12' up in an Elm tree on a 2"x6"x5' wedged in between 2 Y's in the tree, on the back side of a corn field, about 100 yards from a...

    Could have been ugly...

Want to share something that happened to me this year, in hopes that it doesn't happen to you. I use a Propane Big Buddy Mr. Heater, with an O2 sensor to heat my wall tent. The first afternoon I was Elk hunting I was able to shoot a bull, got everything quartered out just after dark, hung up...

    Son's second turkey ever

Just like the title, my son's second turkey ever, at 9 year's old. We stalked a large flock of about 4 dozen birds, for 1 1/2 hours. They basically wouldn't even look at us when we called. In the end we belly crawled the last 92 yards to seal the deal.

    Ethics question???

Instead of taking over a different thread, I'm starting my own. So here's the question. Lets say you hunt in an area where the species of choice you hunt has a 30 day long season, and because of family, or work you traditionally hunt the last 10 days. 5 years goes by of camping in the same spot...

    Idaho Moose question.

To start I live in Wyoming, and am applying for Moose here, but Moose is just that one animal that I have always been drawn to, and would really like to spend more than one or two times in my life chasing. So, I can't afford a guided hunt in Alaska or Canada. As a meet in the middle from a...

    South Central Nebraska question

I have a friend that I haven't hunted with in almost 5 years now and we were talking about putting something together, unfortunately he's not able to get much time off. So we were talking about doing an upland bird hunt in Nebraska (which would be kind of a middle meet point for both of us...

    Wyoming unit 66 December

Looking for general info on unit 66 elk hunting. Have 2 uncle that have NR General tags and want to come back out to try and take some meat home in December. I'm looking at the western side of the unit. Is there any other areas in the unit I should look at for them? Is there any ranchers that...

    Wyoming whitetail

On October 28th I got out whitetail hunting with a type 3 tag with my son. We were overlooking a small creek bottom that we've found sheds in before, and seen does in, so figured we could turn up something. After about an hour and a half of seeing 2 owls and 2 turkeys we were a bit discouraged...

    Son's first turkey

My son is 8 years old and took hunter safety this last summer and has wanted nothing more than to hunt turkeys, why I really don't know. So we got setup on acreek bottom, but when the turkeys came through they spotted us and bailed across creek, so we went into stalk mode. We came over the hill...

    Dad's first elk

So my dad is 63 years old, has MD, and wears leg braces. He was able to get a couple hundred yards from the road and farther a few other times. On this particular morning I was cold calling for him on a meadow and cows were answering from all around us, there was probably bigger ones, but he...

    Honey do list, DONE!

Finally got my honey do list completed. I removed our old deck, removed 10" of dirt, put 4" of sand back in, set the forms, put in about 450' of 5/8" rebar (this thing isn't going anywhere), poured the cement, let it set for 40 days to dry, then got it stained today. The important part is, I got...
