We have a lot of poplar in NE MN, and we commonly call it "popple". The proper name is aspen, both bigtooth and quaking. I suspect that your wood is a bit different though. Most of the commercial use is to make paper and OSB. Saw on.

An answer to some of these type actions such as the grizzly permits is for the Fish & Wildlife dept. to issue unlimited licenses with a regional mortality cap. Wyoming does this with mountain lions. $$$ coming in, and the game management goals are generally accomplished.
