    Winter Track ID

Here is a nice grizz track that I got when I was hunting them. They were laughing at us since they would walk down the same trail that we were riding the horses up except they were walking it at night.

I can't tell on the first two pictures but I would say that the last one is a racoon

    Preferred bugle call

What works and is user friendly for me might not be user friendly for you. I have no problem using a mouth diaphragm but others do nothing but gag on them and they usually use one that has a reed in the mouth piece on the tube.

Where U going to hunt this year???

Leaving next week for javelina down in Arizona. If Wyoming doesn't throw a curve ball again I'll be up there hunting antelope and perhaps deer. Always have a tag for deer in Utah, elk is up in the air and I am hoping for a bison tag there also. They usually just laugh at me on the bison...

Let the gov't goat slaughter begin!

Actually horse meat is fairly good. I would have no qualms about shooting one for the freezer and I used to own horses.

Let the gov't goat slaughter begin!

And yet we still have thousands of wild horses destroying habitat in the western states and no real set plan on what to do with them. I have seen what they do to a area and it isn't pretty.

Let the gov't goat slaughter begin!

The government shouldn't of done a lot of things that they did way back when, but at the time they thought that they were doing a good thing. As the say, hind sight is 20/20

    Winter herd updates?

Where the snow is the deepest the elk and deer vacated it long ago. They are on their winter grounds and the winter grounds are not bad yet. I second what Hilltop said, it is the spring storms or the ones in late April and early May that have the big effect on game animals.

    altitude sickness

Also if you have a dog along for one reason or another, they also can get altitude sickness and it is usually too late by the time you see that they are sick to do anything about it. I watched a ladies dog die one time from it after they called the mobile vet that is in the area and they were...

    Scope for 22-250

Just a simple scope or a more advanced one? A simple 3.5-10 or a 4.5-14x40 Leupold would works quite well. A little bit more advanced would be a 4.5-14x40 CDS from Leupold. I have had a 6.5-20x50 Leupold on my 22-250 for 30+ years and have never felt a need for a different scope.
