The Thing People Don't Like To Talk About

Well perhaps not everyone but there are a lot of them. When you are out camping in a tent or just off of the side of the road and out of your truck how do you handle your disposal of body fluids? Give me a break, I'm trying to be nice here........ Around 12 years ago we decided to find...

    Just saw this

Right now this rule only affects a few state wildlife areas and not the whole state. However I would like for it to go state wide and as was mentioned they may need to look at it a different way and not make people purchase a hunting/fishing license but perhaps a access permit. They already...

    Just saw this

I saw that yesterday in a local newspaper. They are finally trying to get others to pay for what they use instead of having us license holders foot the whole bill for these areas. I'd like to see them do it to a lot more areas along with the hiking, and biking trails.

Sometimes you have to look up instead of down all the time.

    Other interests

If it has to do with the outdoors I'm doing it. I was also into building high performance VW engines in the 1600 class for quite a while. At one time a friend of mine and I were planning on entering the Mint 400 off road race in Nevada along with the Baja 1000. I was planning on building...

    New rifle

I was just going to ask about the 130 grain bullets? That rifle does have a beautiful stock, it will be a shame when that first scratch is put into it but then it becomes a shooter.

Covid-19 Effects on Fall 2020 Hunts

I also think that the hunts will happen but groups of hunters may be smaller or non existence In my case my hunting partner is 79 years old with a heart condition and I am not a spring chicken anymore at 67. A lot of what we will do will depend on just what the recommendations are for our age...

    Ever use your snakeproof boots?

Back in my working days I was a lineman for the phone company and wore high top climbing boots. One day I came down a pole and at the bottom of the pole I felt something hit my leg. I looked down and saw a piece of sagebrush move and then I felt it hit my leg again. I looked and saw about 8"...

    Australia Bowhunter Gored By Buffalo

There is a good discussion going on about this on a African hunting forum. A lot of it revolves around not having a proper rifle of a large caliber with them as a backup.

    Grizzly / Wolf question

The bigger problem as I see it is that the wolves that are being introduced into the lower 48 are different than the wolves that inhabited these areas before they were exterminated. The wolves that are here now from I understand are a larger and more aggressive wolf than those way back in the...

    Oilskin duster/drover ?

On my hunt up in British Colombia we had a 23 mile ride into the cabins. I don't think anything would of helped the way that I felt when we got there and I did a lot of walking on the trip in. Then once there I lived in my rain gear for quite a bit of the time riding into and back from the...

    You Tube

Yes, it does make repairs on a lot of things a lot easier than they used to be. There have been a number of things that I'll look on there before I begin instead of trying to figure it out myself.

    The Memes Thread!

Anymore if you are working and want to keep your job you need to stay off of social media or really think about what you are posting. We used to pass around jokes that were sent to us off of fax machines that today would land you into hot water if someone would take offense or if the wrong...

    NA10 Most Bow-Hunt-Able animals...?

I actually remember watching Fred Bear on American Sportsman way back in the 60's hunting Kodiak brown bears with is bow and arrows, and actually being quite successful at it. Along with a polar bear. He claimed that with a bow in close that you really didn't have much to worry about if you...

    Bowhunting Africa 2020

South Africa is starting to open up a little. On another forum for African hunting there are folks that are now starting to get their plans set for next year and a couple that are starting to look at flights.

    Elk gurus, teach me......

You will find elk bedding in areas that are either dark or quite shady. I personally have never seen them as high as 13,000 except for when they are heading over the hill. Most of the elk around me with our hills reaching 13,000-14,000 will be found between 8,000 and 10,000 feet.

If you could change your profession, what would it be?

My plans were to become a electrical engineer but plans change real quick due to situations. Instead I became a electrician working mostly in the oilfields of Utah and southern Wyoming. Then I got tired of hunting jobs and went to work for a phone company. Started out as a installer and...
