Nothing on the reports this morning but it appears that the fire laid down pretty good last night.
Usually by this time 11 am the valley here is clogged with smoke and I become a mole inside my home. I actually got the lawn mowed this morning without coughing and gagging. My vehicles do...
I know that there are a number of us from Colorado on here and while I don't believe that anyone here hunts the area north of Glenwood Canyon I thought that I'd post some of the pictures that are coming out of the Glenwood Canyon area off of I-70.
It is believed that a flat tire throwing...
From what I have seen of trail camera pictures of a couple different states that are just as dry I would say that antler growth is coming along just fine
Anyone who lets sports get into the way of hunting/fishing isn't much of a hunter or fisherman.
While I like watching sports as much as the next person I much rather be hunting or fishing since you are really not involved in the outcome of the game that you might of watched if you were...
As I have gotten older I have found that hunting isn't about killing but the enjoyment of the hunt. How do you score that?
I'll go for years without killing a deer, but also in those years I pass up a lot of bucks that others will send a bullet at.
I have actually seen quite a few sets of antlers that would score real well if they were ever scored. Most are stored in the basements or out in the barns of old ranchers that could of cared less about the antlers but were looking for some food.
A lot of these animals were shot out of season...
I have been shooting Barnes bullets now for close to 30 years with zero problems with ranges from 30 yards out to a little over 700. Looking at the exit wounds of the animals it appears to me that all have had great expansion. The only Barnes bullet that I have recovered myself was a muzzle...
I haven't read anything about them but why would you want a all copper bullet to shed the pedals?
If it stays together it will have more frontal energy than it would if it shed them, plus shedding them will quite likely result in more meat damage due to bloodshot as they pass through the...
From what I have seen in my area the only ones laid off are hotel workers. Most everyone else is working but then I haven't walked into a restaurant or bar to see just what they are doing.
As for money it is like it has been reported, with the large unemployment check folks are getting they...
At one time I had a dozen or so. The third hand shop now has just about all of them.
Now I get along with just 3. A Badlands day pack, a 30 year old Cabela's external frame pack, and just a frame pack. With those 3 I can handle anything that I need to do. That's why I got rid of all the rest.
People that are laid off getting unemployment have been out in force enjoying the outdoors.
If they go back to work they will no longer have the time to spoil it for the rest of us.
In the end it will be quite interesting in who does play this season. There are a few that haven't canceled out all their games and I kind of wonder just what the bowls are going to do if there are enough teams playing this year to actually have games in them.
Who knows this years national...
I forgot that I had the story in a book that I have.
The book is Colorado's Biggest Bucks and Bulls and Other Great Colorado Big Game by Susan Campbell Reneau. The copy that I have is the second edition.
Here is the story about it.
Odd are those old boys were out hunting for something to eat and could of cared less about the antlers.
As the story that I heard on it was that after he told some friends about it he ended up going back to get the antlers to show them.
The hunter could quite possibly tell you more about...
That elk held the record until the mid 60's for a typical Rocky Mountain Elk before a hunter in Arizona shot a bigger one.
Big elk are something to see in the wild, they are truly impressive. In 2005 I was headed deer hunting on the Monroe Mountain in Utah when a herd of elk was crossing the...
Lovely times down in Arizona where you can save on your cooking bills buy just using a flat rock outside.
As long as the pipe is burried there should be no problems with it even in the Arizona heat. The problem comes in when you use PVC as a riser and it is sticking out of the ground and...
