No not steep at all, its all wooded. I think if you head north a little further past Glidden there may be some fields but not positive. No problem tho!

Id recommend heading north of Phillips and hunt the Chequagaman National Forest. Hunted it for 21 years until wolves and bears got too bad and deer numbers were down, i have friends who still hunt it and they say the deer numbers are back and its large tracts of land for you to roam. Just my 2...

I dont think i said anything about hiking 10 miles in the mountains, this area of Region Y is more rolling wooded hills with mixed coulees, not many places you can get up high and glass for hours. You would be staring at the same meadow and that doesnt take hours to cover. Everyone is so quick...

Taskswap, i totally understand and my intent is not to shoot any further than 400 yds at most. So from my reading maybe i should just customize my 300 and go from there. I wonder if there are any aftermarket stocks that are out there that could cut the weight of the gun down a bit? Carbon fiber...

But weight wise the 300 has to be in the mid 8 pound range im guessing, maybe more towards 9 pounds with a scope on it. And ammo isnt something you can just buy anywhere either.
