I have always had pretty quick responses, like within 10-15 minutes. But, as stated earlier, I usually know a bear is close. either I've seen it and by the time I get there he slips away or I hear what I believe to be one in the brush by me or I see some super fresh sign, but can't spot a bear...

I used a old Lohman predator call (rabbit in distress). Interestingly enough I've only called bears in with this mouth call. I have never had any success with my electronic call!

I have called in a few bears over the years. More spring bears than fall, but have had a couple show interest enough during early fall to get them shot. During the spring I have called bears right up close and personal (20-30 yards). I had a sow with two little cubs come in to 30 yards this...

Good luck on all your draws. Sambar sounds pretty cool; I've heard it's a tough hunt! Good luck on gator tags also. I was actually looking at our OR draws and opportunities the other day and thinking the same thing about having a lot of options to get out and hunt.

Yes, I am getting pretty loaded with points in NV for sure :). I have a MT deer tag and should draw a lower tier unit CO deer tag. Maybe UT or WY will draw my name yet too :). I have a few other fun hunts in the works, but they aren't locked down yet. OR should be fun this year too; seasons...

(to answer your question above "tim") I have used a combination of moving in on them (still hunting) when they will keep talking to you, but just won't budge. I have had some success with this, but have been busted and just boogered the birds quite a few times. I've found for me, patience works...

That thing is beautiful, great work, I consider myself to be a good carpenter also, but those boats are beyond that, they are works of art!

Finished the season with a nice Tom in the big timber. I started off with a jake early on then finished up with a couple nice Toms'. We can get three spring turkeys, but are only allowed to kill one per day. Our birds are doing pretty well I think considering the long winter we just came...

They are great fun to hunt. They can be amazingly tough to get to shotgun/bow range at times. Sounds like I need to come visit tim in ID :)
