    Knifes.........

I collected lots of pop bottles too and also picked up old cigarette packages. If they were bought from a machine, they used to have change in them. A package of smokes cost from .20 to .22 cents and the change from the quarter machine was in the package. Sometimes they were discarded with the...

    Knifes.........

The oldest knife I own was my Grandfathers. it is Marbles MSA Expert model made in about 1900. He wore out the original leather case and made the one in the picture. It is worth about $650.00...priceless to me! The second picture is my current knives. The 2 folders are Case XX carbon steel and...

Any tips or tricks to replacing stuck blades in an outdoor edge knife?

That's why I don't buy cheap knives. I've been using the same pocket knife (Case), 4" 2 blade folder (Case), both are older high carbon steel and over 50 years old. I also have a custom skinner that is 40 years old. Keep sharp & clean and they won't let you down.

    Antelope numbers and tags issued?

Buy extra doe tags, pretty cheap in Wyoming. I usually shot a couple of them to go along with the buck tag. Colorado is pretty tough to hunt antelope in. The tags that are the easiest to draw are mostly private and the goodunit with lots of public land usually take quite a few points.

    Antelope numbers and tags issued?

This year in our favorite unit, 3 of us applied for type 6 tags. We drew buck tags last year (and type 6 also), so no points this year. Didn't draw for the first time in quite a few years. I checked the stats after the draw and Wyoming did not issue any NR type 6 tags. Last year we saw lots of...

    Backcountry Questions

Depending on the area you hunt, another thing to be aware of is flies, especially when its warmer or areas where there is livestock. I've had a problem a couple of times with maggots from the fly eggs. If you see flies on your meet, really look it over. In areas that have blood, inside the gut...

    Backcountry Questions

RICMIC is spot on about hunting with partners. When I was young, I could pick up a deer and pack it out easily....not anymore. If I am hunting alone, a mile is my limit to hunt away from transportation. (Generally much less, depending on the country). When I first started hunting Wyoming in...

    Antelope numbers and tags issued?

The antelope in the picture was shot in Wyoming in 1985. I didn't have it mounted, just the horns on a plaque. The taxi told me I should mount it, as it might be awhile before I shot another that big. Well 10 years later I took the horns with me on an antelope hunt in the same area. I took the...

    Preparing for a Western Hunt

I've hunted Wyoming since 1980. October is always a crap shoot. I've seen it be 80 at noon and it would cloud up, temps drop, wind, snow and be down to 5 degrees the same night. Back up to 70 a couple of days later. Best advice is be prepared for anything. If it really gets cold, you can put...
