How many activities, sports, etc... do you participate in?

Well if hunting and beer drinking are both considered sports, I participate in two.

    Limited opportunity hunt

I just got back from helping my bro on his cow elk hunt in one of the "limited opportunity' areas. There are very few elk but we always mange to find some. This was the first time out of 5 tags that we didn't shoot anything, the others were "any elk" tags. We did have a chance at some cows but...

    Slow around here

Wow! I've been gone since the 17th and there are no new posts of animals on our NV forum. Surely someone has had some success out in our NV hunts so far.

    Setting up my 40x30 out-building

Since you already have a 60 gal air compressor you may want to run an air line along one side of the building with a few quick-connect fittings so you can have access to air anywhere inside. Maybe even one fitting on the outside on the front. Perhaps a freeze-proof spigot because it's always...

    Comfort level

I've never been hardcore because I feel hunting should be fun and enjoyable. That means no backpacking. Being comfortable makes that possible. So we bring all the comforts of home.

    Wild elk?

Last week while driving down the highway north of San Luis Res we saw a herd of elk in a big field. Are those wild Tule elk or are they a captive herd? Just curious since I've never seen elk in CA before.

    R.I.P. patrick

I remember reading his stories at the back of Outdoor Life for years and years. I've read a couple of his books in the last few months as well. We have lost a truly gifted humor writer.

    New NV regulation

NDOW approved this new regulation on shed antler hunting. I'm not sure if it is in effect now or whether it starts next year. Just something to be aware of for you shed hunters. http://www.ndow.org/Our_Agency/News/Articles/Wildlife_Commission_Adopts_Shed_Antler_Regulation/

    Need help with truck transmission 1992 / F-150 / 6cyl automatic

Hey Slugz, any update on your pick-up. I ask simply because I am my own shade-tree mechanic. The yoke does not use a crush sleeve. There is a seal that goes behind it that should be replaced whenever the yoke is removed though. It is the pinion gear that requires a new crush sleeve whenever it...

    Mountain lion

How many of you guys that pick up a mountain lion tag to have in case you happen to see one during your hunts have ever gotten lucky? I've been buying one ever since I had a lion at about 40 yards during an archery hunt in the Ruby's 7 or 8 years ago and didn't have a tag and I wasn't fast...

    Nevada Moose

About 15-20 years ago I saw a picture in the Elko newspaper of a small bull moose said to be taken near Jarbidge. I figured it was just a young bull wandering from Idaho in search of cows. I never thought the day would come where we have an actual population of moose, however small. Anyone ever...

    What was your heaviest load???

Heaviest load was when my brother and I packed out my Ruby's buck whole a couple of miles, thankfully it was mostly downhill. We took turns carrying the buck. When I dropped it off at the processor he weighed in at 126 lbs. minus the head and lower legs. We were much younger and dumber but...

    What Scope...

Leupold scopes on both rifles are the originals I bought in 1980 and 1983. They both work as good as the day they were bought. VX-II and VX-III I wouldn't have any other scopes. I have never seen the need to change what works.
