My guess would be that people figured that a lot of guys wouldn't be applying this year and thought it would be their chance at a great tag. Unfortunately everybody else had the same idea.

Talked to my bro in the White mountains of AZ yesterday. He was out in the yard and told me it was HOT. 82° yeah right. :rolleyes: It's been near 100 where I live, I can only wish for low 80's.

As far as sheep, mtn goat and bull elk there are tags drawn every year by people who have many less bonus points than the max bonus point holders. So you can never really tell when you have "enough" points.

This year I only applied for bonus points for everything except desert bighorn. If I actually draw this tag I can be hunting only 30 minutes from the house. :)

For me the perfect elk rifle/cartridge is my Remington 7mm mag with 175 grain Core-Lokt bullets. It also happens to be the same rifle I use for hunting everything else using 150 grain bullets.

Somehow I don't think too many non-res hunters would be applying for mountain goat or Rocky bighorn bonus points not knowing when or even if they would ever be allowed to hunt them. To be honest I don't have a problem with NV not allowing NR a chance to hunt them when the odds of drawing a tag...

Everyone who applies must buy a license, but they can also elect to recieive a refund for the cost of the license if not drawn for a tag. BUT they will NOT get a bonus point if they elect for the refund.
