    Who else is...

I am snowmobiling into the hunting shack this morning for an overnighter. I'll have about 3 hours of snow shoveling, ice chopping, wood and water hauling ahead of me. That's just like every day life a few generations ago. I'll post some pictures if I survive.

    Who else is...

I've been plowing and shoveling out from our 17" snowfall. I can feel it this morning, but everything is still working.

    Missing some forum friends

I plan to be on the road thru most of August and will cover most of the western states (except for the left coast), so I'm flexible within that time frame. May and June are out.

Taping a barrel on a muzzleloader?

I shot a mule deer (204yds.) and an elk (128 yds.) with tape on the barrel. Those were in CO with open sights. You have a big hole that can allow a lot of moisture in over the course of an extended hunt, especially if you don't change your load each day (and I don't). I switched from...

Wyoming antelope advice for family hunt

I have hunted a north central unit in WY four times for antelope and was successful 1x on a buck, and 7x with 8 doe tags. The only reason that I didn't fill the last doe tag was my partners decided to go home early. We would camp 40 miles from the nearest town, and depending on the road...

    Spring Bear Hunt

If it's just a bear you are after, then you are better off staying in MN. But if your wife wants to go on a road trip out west then go for it.

    firearm safety and hollywood

I am sure that some "firearms expert" will examine the revolver to determine if it was operating within design parameters. A single action revolver does not lock up with the cylinder in line with the bore unless it is out of time. News reports refer to the Petersoli (SP?) as an antique...

    Missing some forum friends

My wife and I are doing a deferred road trip this summer throughout the SW and up to the NW from Minnesota. I regretted not stopping to see Roger (AKA Colorado Cowboy) on a trip several years ago, and plan to contact him before I head out this summer. I have a guest cabin on the lake where I...

    Son in laws desert ram

Great ram. It's amazing that the desert species has the largest horn diameters living in a harsh dry environment. Why does it look like the ram's left side appear to be broomed on the top photo, but unbroomed on the bottom photo?

You are smokin it Marcus. Those shuffle starts can be frustrating; just try running in an event with 10,000 runners and you will wish that you had brought a lawn chair.

    Deer neck collar?

Did you turn the collar over to the DNR/F&G? I got a car killed moose a few years ago that had a collar, and received info from the DNR about where & when it was collared and at what age. Mortality factors, including hunting are a big part of the information that is an important part of what...

    Nikon Scope Issues

I bought a modified .338 Winchester Super Grade from a guy who had it built, but because of Parkinson's never hunted with it. It had a Nikon scope and it was never consistent grouping. Good for a bit, then it wandered. I tried several different scopes with similar results before having it...

Arctic Air ( Mike and Shiela Spisak ) & Outdoor International - Buyer Beware!

BC, I was wondering why you were so quiet the last couple months. I've been fortunate on my guided hunts and never was screwed over like that. I guided fly-in canoe trips to a wilderness area in Manitoba and a few years later the pilot and his passengers died in a plane crash in the Otter...

Investments - what has served you well?

I looked at starting a college fund for my grandkids, but backed off when I found that the pool of $ in their name affected the $ available to them in grants. I help them out when they need it to help cover expenses outside of college.

    Not Sitting At Home

I love having those gray jays around, but for some reason they have been almost completely replaced in our area (NE Minnesota) by those annoying blue jays.

    Not Sitting At Home

That's a real beauty Jim. Those close encounters are a blessing whether you have a tag or not. That guy was just a pup when I last hunted in your backyard.
