My group should draw Wyoming General tags this year with over 3pts. Will be our first time hunting Wyoming. One of our guys has to put in for his vacation soon so we’re down to final deciding factors if we’re going archery or rifle. I think we have the areas we want to go pretty much figured...

Thanks for the info! I’ll definitely try to get my backside in riding condition, but 9 or 10 hours in the saddle is probably going to be unpleasant at the end of the day no matter what.

The outfitter claims high success rates and they kill some pretty good bulls. Might just be a 10 day ride through the wilderness with a rifle. I realize in 5 years a lot can change (or 5 weeks!), but if it’s not planned it will never happen, long wait though.

Here is a 180 TTSX that went through both shoulders of a bull I killed at 350 yards. Tough bullet, muzzle velocity a hair over 3000 FPS, bullet was under skin on off side.

My nephew drew the same tag, I don’t know much about the unit though. Supposedly good #’s of deer but it gets pounded during regular rifle seasons so mature buck #’s are low.

I bought the 5700 elite last year. Loads of fun for shooting long range; they work well but are definitely subject to the limitations JimP mentioned above....they tell you what the wind is doing (and all other environmentals, temp, barometric pressure, altitude, etc.) where you are standing...

According to the 2019 statistics page there were 7719 archery hunters in those units last year, presumably all in OTC tags. If those folks now all had to get in the draw, I would guess a % of them who previously didn’t get in the draw would also apply for multiple species that they didn’t...
