This is pretty much the exact same procedure I use. I think the first 20 shots are the most critical, you’ll notice much less fouling when cleaning after those first 20.

I have a Christensen Classic in 30 Nosler and have been very happy with it - I shoot it regularly out to 1200 yards and it’s a half MOA rifle with my hand loads. My buddy bought the Traverse in 28 Nosler and its a tack driver as well.

I consider anything over 500 yards long rang even with modern equipment. I shoot regularly out to 1200 yards at steel (and paper). I’m no expert, but I’ve got all the gadgets to shoot far with accuracy and consistency and it’s a fun hobby. I’ve only ever shot at one animal over 500 yards...

Looks like it’s a little warm today for you guys up in elk country, but at least it’s not as brutal as it is right now at my South Texas hunting camp. Truck reads 105, official Laredo temp is 100.
