    WY 2023 Hunting Season Proposals

Its more than that, but certainly some of the things you mentioned for 100% sure. The area that my buddy lives that's been reduced from over a thousand to 75 has lots of private with limited/controlled grazing. Lots of water as well, plenty of predator control too. As always, I think the...

    WY 2023 Hunting Season Proposals

I don't know that they will rebound. A good friend of mine owns property and has hunted in the unit that property is in for a long, long, time. That area has issued over 1000 tags/year in the past...now 75 total tags. Its been on a decline and even with drastically reduced tags is still not...

    WY 2023 Hunting Season Proposals

Anyone that has ever thought that politics don't play into wildlife management decisions either lives somewhere between denial and fantasyland or just doesn't pay attention. Everything from quota's to herd objectives to price to_________________(fill in the blank) decisions are based on wayyyy...

    WY 2023 Hunting Season Proposals

Nice! But wrong color, and only when its fairly cold. Past 3 years. 2020 2021: 2022: Do you really think it would be tough for some hunters, hat aside, to kill half a dozen a year?

    WY 2023 Hunting Season Proposals

Nobody is forcing you to apply in Wyoming and you can apply for the regular priced tags if you dont want to pay the special fees. Also the legislature raised the fees, not residents, and not the department. As far as fee increases on the big 5, the fees should be raised. Still dirt cheap for...

    WY 2023 Hunting Season Proposals

I disagree, if you give the right hunters more tags, you'll kill more elk. I do agree that putting more hunters in the field doesn't mean more elk will be killed. There does reach a saturation point where more HUNTERS can decrease harvest. Issue me half a dozen elk tags in 7 and see what...

Should I apply for Antelope in Wyoming or not???

Make no mistake the increase in NR hunting has really had an impact on pronghorn in many areas. Lots of NR's like you would show up every year and whack multiple does (nothing wrong with that). The thing is, 10, 15, 20 years ago there were thousands of pronghorn buck and doe tags that were...

Should I apply for Antelope in Wyoming or not???

Thats a great question. Most every pronghorn area in the state has way fewer than when I moved here in 2000. Pronghorn in Wyoming have been in decline for a long time.

Should I apply for Antelope in Wyoming or not???

Going to be tags available, just a whole lot fewer of them. Doe pronghorn will probably be the lowest tags numbers in many decades here. I think that will be the case for at least 4-5 years as well. The area I'm applying for has doe tags and my wife and I will try to draw 4 of them, and pitch...

Should I apply for Antelope in Wyoming or not???

What species that you actually apply for? Moose, sheep, goat, or bison? Everything else is the same...for now.

    Antelope

Going to apply in what I believe is an area that isn't going to be hit AS hard as where I usually apply. I'll see what the populations look like come hunting season then decide whether or not to just pitch my tags in the trash.

    Montana Bucks...

My wife was pretty tough on mule deer in the mid-late 90's in Montana. We had an awesome place to hunt, seeing a couple hundred deer a day was no big deal. Bucks were all just sort of average stuff like this:

    Montana Bucks...

Looking through photos, I guess I've shot 3 mule deer in Montana since moving to Wyoming...these 2 as well: This one in 2010: My Dad and Brother both shot bucks on the same trip that year: Brothers deer was half cool: This one in 2008 IIRC, while elk hunting the breaks:

    Montana Bucks...

Last time I hunted mule deer in Montana was maybe 3-4 years ago. My Dad, Brother, and Nephew drew a special deer area, I had to hunt across the street in a general area. Worked out fairly well, think we spent 5 or 6 days saw maybe 30 bucks a day. I should have went back for whitetail but...

    What’s your plans?

I'm guessing the usual unless myself or immediate family hit a great tag, we have lots of points in various states. For sure: WY: 3 elk tags, 1-2 buck deer tags, 1 buck pronghorn, a couple/few whitetail doe tags, a couple pronghorn doe/fawn to pitch in the trash, lion, and bear. MT: NR OTC...
