Update: CPW has been looking at Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon, as stated in its final wolf management plan, for sources of wolves. They have NOT been looking to source wolves from Canada. So far, Wyoming and Idaho have already informed Colorado they will not serve as a wolf...

^^ What he said. I bought a couple of WY moose points a few years ago and then it became clear that I'd likely NEVER draw, so I stopped. There are plenty of guided options to choose from to get the right experience & cost for what you want to do.

No need to stand up to CPW, overall the wildlife officers and biologists are good people. Just gonna have to stand up to the CPW Commissioners who were appointed by the Governor.

Be careful what you wish for… CPW hasn’t approved some changes you’d like and they don’t approve every proposal presented to them. If they did, you wouldn’t like that either, because a couple of months ago when they were considering changing Res/NonRes allocations to 75% / 25% a large portion...

FYI CPW has already discussed many of the options above and rejected them. It’s unlikely a hunters round table will change their minds any time soon.

Back to the beginning .... the system works fine, just maybe not the way you'd like it to. If you don't want to apply, please don't. If someone is forcing you to apply, or do anything else against your will ... call 911.

There are no perfect systems. This one works just fine. The hunters who turned those high-point tags back in obviously had some unforseen issues pop up. Now you have a chance to apply for them ... good for you.

Ok, so 8 folks turned in some high point tags due to family issues, etc ... nothing wrong with that. Now we can all try for them ... good deal.

CPW actually has dozens of things to do this time of year ... this is just one of them. The system isn't broken at all, it's just not doing what you'd like it to. You might be happier if you'd consider hunting in another state with a different system that suits you better.
