    Who else is...

I broke mine doing this one year in August with maybe 40# in it, glad it broke before season. Got it fixed in time for season, and packed out 6 critters with no issues. I think you need to give all your gear a good workout before season, don't want to find the weak points when you need it most.

How Do You Define A Successful Scouting Trip?

If my truck doesn't burn to the ground, and I don't die, its a success! Lol In all seriousness my friend came out deer hunting in Wyoming last year, I prescouted the area 4 different days in the summer. Purely to identify quality glassing spots for different wind directions, and sunrise...

I know some of you are really good at scoring bulls...

Good info. Not prefect, but I try and kill an aged animal on most hunts now over pure score. The aged animal is just smarter and more of a challenge. Side note my uncle killed an official scored whitetail at 203 and change inches, that was 3 1/2 years old. Genetics over age most any day.

Not many deer on scouting trip

Your tag is good for one deer, I'd focus on one deer not numbers. You'll get 'er done, have fun, enjoy yourself!

4 pounds exactly away from high school weight. I'm actually really happy that I didn't go up after last week, spent 5 days in the truck constantly driving 12 hours a day, so I expected the scale to tick up a number, or two. That's a win to not go backwards! 3 hours of baseball yesterday...

    Non-typical doesn't even explain it...

I think your right! I just figured the same as the rest, that it was a testy issue, but after reading about Doppelkopf buck sure seems like it. Sounds crazy rare, feel pretty lucky to have seen it.

    Doe in heat ?

July time is when I start to see bucks running other bucks and sometimes running a doe around. Probably just building dominance in the herd, that's what it always looked like to me.

    Non-typical doesn't even explain it...

I seen one of the coolest things today. The first picture is of 5 mule deer bucks, the second buck from the right has a hard white 2 point on his right side along with some spurred velvet growth around it, and I know the picture isn't great, but a grapefruit sized velvet mass on his left side...

    Wyoming mule deer

Seen a bunch of 1 to 2 year old's today. This guy was the best I seen today. I've seen some huge Whitetails, but they don't like to hold still for a picture.

    Wyoming mule deer

Been traveling and working all over the East half of Wyoming, a bit in the Blackhills of SD, and a little in SE Montana for a few weeks. There is no lack of vegetation and moisture this year. While I was sitting making notes today I looked across the draw and this buck stood up. Nothing huge...

    250 mile migration

I'm going to do what you should have done. I read something that I didn't like, and instead of blowing a head gasket, I'm going to keep moving along. Have a good Fourth of July, hope that doesn't offend you...

    Bear hunt advice

Here's the Wisconsin 2019 draw. I forgot one of the zones got split a few years ago. A and D would be your best options. Zone C doesn't allow hounds, so it's not an option.

    The Wild Game Eats Thread...

Here's my newest recipe, salt and sugar cured elk roasts, then smoked with Apple wood. Taste just like a store bought ham, its great! Has a sweet taste, then the traditional salty ham flavor comes in.

    The Wild Game Eats Thread...

I've worked more hours then sleeped in months and finally got most of a weekend off, so I fired up the smoker after church today. The tried and true pastrami recipe came out of the box today. I did use a little different wood combination and it turned out really good. I usually use hickory and...
