Let’s hear hunting stories with the kids

I'd like to see the youth hunt expanded to include an over 18 mentor hunt where someone who has never owned a tag over 18 years old can hunt one time to experience it. To say the youth season is a waste, is comical. A lot of people won't take time away from their tag, so this is a great way to...

Let’s hear hunting stories with the kids

Nearly 15 years ago when I lived back in Wisconsin I did a youth mentor Turkey hunt. It was a boy who's mom passed away, dad was busy working 2 jobs, the kids was truly a really nice kid and I wanted to do everything I could to get him on a bird. I took him to the range about 2 weeks before...

Every year before season starts I like to make sure the freezer is completely empty. Had 10 pounds of antelope and elk roasts left so we ground them up, added 5 pounds of ground pork, and split it up between 3 sausage recepies. Only 4 packs of steaks left, I do have some bear left which I've...

I got zero time to archery hunt this year, but have 21 days total off for rifle season. 6 people, 5 antelope tags, 4 deer tags, 4 elk tags. It's going to be busy, and I can't WAIT! Really hoping to see a lot of firsts hit the ground for 4 of the people I'm helping!

    Who else is...

Cut down 4 30' trees broke them down, wood stacked, branches hauled out. Replaced an area of fence, hand dug in new posts 3' deep in the dry cement we call dirt, and not because I dropped the trees on them LOL. 4 days of hiking and fishing last weekend, daylight to dark today, feeling great!

    Blaze Orange Vest?

I wear a hat, and have a vest strapped to the back of my pack so someone doesn't shoot me in the back. I also hang it in a tree, or wear it while I break down an animal. I'll wear it when I crawl up to a ridge top antelope hunting so I can take my hat off. Think I paid a few bucks for it after...
